Greg Bell graduated from Terre Haute Garfield High School in 1948, where his greatest achievement was a second place finish in the long jump in the state meet.
In 1954, following a tour of military service, Greg enrolled in Indiana University. While an IU student he captured many championships in the long jump, including four state AAU, three National AAU, three Big State, four Ohio Relays, three Penn Relays, three Big Ten indoor and outdoor, two NCAA, the 1956 Olympic, and the 1959 USSR vs. USA championships. Greg's honors were also numerous in the sprints, and he captained the US team which competed against the USSR in 1959. Further, he captained the 1956-1957, and 1958 Indiana University track teams.
A 50 year State Champion veteran.
Rene' was Captain of the 1964 Gary Roosevelt State Champion Team and had previously anchored the 1963 State Championship Mile Relay to first place and became a '63 Scholastic All American. In 1964, after an undefeated season, and 2 event Gary City Champion, Rene' placed third in the 1964 – 440 yard dash and anchored the 2nd place Mile Relay-his only 2 defeats of the year. Rene' became a 2 time Scholastic All-American by being on the '64 team and was a USTFF gold medal champ that summer.
Holli Rene' Hyche graduated from Perry Meridian High School in 1990. She won the state meet her sophomore year in the 100 and 200 meters and she also won the 100 and 400 meters and runner-up in the 200 meters her senior year. Holli then attended Indiana State University, where she won seven NCAA titles in the sprints, she holds one national indoor record in the 200 meter, and ten All-American titles. In 1994, she was named the NCAA's women's indoor and outdoor track athlete of the year.
